AC-Colombia participated as bursar in the Latin American Training Program in budget and economic and social rights, in Buenos Aires.
The Latin-American Region Training Program in budget and economic and social rights, led by the Center for Legal and Social Studies (CELS, in Spanish) and the Civil Association for equality and justice (ACIJ, in Spanish), Center of Analysis and Research (FUNDAR), International Budget Partnership (IBP), and the International Program for Scholarships on Human Rights and the International Network for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (RED-DESC); has granted a scholarship to Diana Méndez Ardila, Researcher at AC-Colombia.
The event took place in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in August 17-26, 2009. It was designed to provide civil society organizations with basic skills to examine and analyze public budget, relating public budget to economic and social rights and analyze situations where the State could be at fault with its obligations regarding human rights involving the budget.
Diana Méndez Ardila is an economist graduated from Universidad de Los Andes, with experience in socioeconomic-analysis research mainly in social issues. She has participated in projects related with the issue of displacement, vulnerable population and in conditions of extreme poverty, transparency and citizen control over public management. She recently participated as co-author in the book: “More information, greater development: comparative analysis of open budget index 2006 and 2008. Promoting incidence, monitoring and citizen control of the general national budget in Colombia” 2009. |
