Thanks to funding from the European Union and the Office of the Presidential Counselor for Reintegration (ACR), AC-Colombia will implement its “Coexistence and Reconciliation: A Model of Social Management” project in the Colombian cities of Santa Mar

This project is aimed at the peaceful coexistence and reconciliation between vulnerable receiving communities and reintegration of displaced populations as well as their respective family units. This will be achieved through the development of a community management model which aims to rebuild community life, prevent the recruitment of minors and reestablish relations between coexisting groups.

The project will provide training as well as activities aimed at the integration and sensitization of the receiving communities and the population that is being reintegrated as well as their families and other institutional and social actors. The project will analyze and evaluate the community environment. It will also promote community work as a way of addressing the social problems which affect the receiving communities, the reintegrated population and their families.

With this social management model, AC-Colombia hopes to benefit a total of 600 people - 200 people in each of the three cities – who, on completing the program, will have actively engaged in the addressing and treating of social problems: reducing intolerance and violence, reflecting on and improving peaceful coexistence; developing group actions to prevent the recruitment of children and teenagers and increasing their confidence in the state.
On completion of the project, men, women and families from both the receiving communities and the reintegrating populations will be able to count on both the experience and the framework of a proven methodology to promote the participation of different social actors in the process of reconciliation and the rebuilding of the social fabric.
