AC-Colombia promotes an initiative to raise awareness on the social problems in La Reliquia Neighborhood, Community May 13th

As part of the support process to the social networks and vulnerable communities, AC-Colombia accompanied the community strengthening process for the coexistence and the reconciliation of the May 13th settlements in the city of Villavicencio, which concluded with the integration of a mutual association known as ASOEMPRENDER in 2009.

This citizenship project focused on the integration of a representative instance to make visible the May 13th Community and allow her to draw advocacy and leadership degrees towards different types of access to social services in order to solve their basic needs.

Originally, the Mutual Association ASOEMPRENDER will insure free distribution of drinking water at least once per day to 1300 families residing in the May 13th Community.

The main goals of ASOEMPRENDER focus on:

a) Solve basic needs on social welfare, health, solidarity savings, education and culture, main consumption products provision, housing solutions, entertainment and assistance and memorial services.

b) PProvide supply of basic public services such as water and electricity through joint contributions of the associates.

c) Promote solidarity and comradeship among associates.

d) Promote individual consumption earnings in their various forms.

e) Grant loans to the associates for productive purposes and for personal and family improvement.

f) Promote civility, community, social, cultural, sports, solidarity, education, entertainment, environmental and health campaigns, among others.

This initiative provides a starting point so that the inhabitants of the neighborhood, working in an organized manner, improve their living conditions and as a reference initiative to develop new ones.
